Weather Donkey

An app and a home-screen widget for current-location weather — temperature, condition, sunrise/sunset, and rain chance from Open-Meteo, a free, open-source weather API (no key needed). Each widget instance can watch its own location, chosen from a picker when you add it. The app adds search-by-city-or-ZIP for extra locations as their own tabs, a 5-day forecast, and a standalone °F/°C converter at the bottom of the screen. Same house rule as the other widgets here: it refreshes only when tapped, never on a background timer.

Garage — Vehicle Maintenance Tracker

Self-hosted software for tracking vehicle service history and knowing exactly what's overdue — a reminder engine built around how car maintenance actually works: mileage and time intervals, whichever comes first, same as an owner's manual. A single dependency-free Python file (standard library only, no framework) serves the full browser UI and stores everything in SQLite. One visit can log several services at once, deleted entries land in a recoverable trash instead of vanishing, and it all runs on your own network — no cloud account, no API key.

MS. Nguyen's Math 8 Grade Calculator

Grade calculator built for my sister's 8th grade math class. Students and parents enter assignment scores to instantly see their current grade, letter grade, and exactly how many points are needed to reach their target — replacing manual calculations she used to do by hand. Now used daily during parent meetings.

SysMon — Device Monitor Widget

Android home-screen widget that shows RAM, storage, and local Claude Code token usage for any of your computers, backed by a lightweight stdlib-only Python agent polled entirely over your own network — no cloud service involved. Supports multiple devices, a per-widget picker for which stats to show, and refreshes only on tap instead of polling in the background.

Cookbook — Self-Hosted Recipe Box

Self-hosted recipe box that renders straight off Markdown files sitting in a folder — no database, no build step, so a new recipe dropped in from any device shows up on next page load. Cooking mode turns a recipe into a full-black, flashcard-style deck you swipe or arrow-key through one step at a time. The parser is heuristic enough to read real recipe-site Markdown as well as recipes typed straight into the app, editing keeps the same filename so links never break, and deletes go to a recoverable trash instead of vanishing. A single dependency-free Python file, protected by HTTP Basic Auth.

Today — iOS-Style Date & Calendar Widgets

Two home-screen widgets in the style of iOS's Calendar app: a small square glance widget (weekday, month, and a big day-of-month number) and a full current-month calendar grid with today highlighted. Both refresh themselves automatically — no polling, no stale dates — and tap straight through to the phone's own default calendar app instead of a custom in-app screen.

Beyond the Terminal

I like working where hardware and code meet. I build PCs, fix weird network issues, and write software that actually runs on the stuff I put together.

Most of what I make is practical: schedulers, inventory tools, small automations, and bots that shave time off everyday tasks. I care about things being stable and easy to understand, not just flashy.

Offline, I'm messing with Linux, taking photos, or out hiking.
